What is Refero

Refero is a library of real product interfaces — thousands of screens and user flows from top web and mobile products, each with structured metadata: page type, UX patterns, UI elements, layout, typography, and more. If your product generates or assists with UI, Refero gives it real-world references to learn from. Instead of producing generic layouts, your AI studies what Stripe, Linear, Notion, and thousands of other products actually ship — and uses that to make better design decisions.

What you get

  • Thousands of real screens — dashboards, pricing pages, onboarding, checkout, settings, paywalls, empty states, and more. Sourced from shipped products, not templates.
  • User flows — step-by-step journeys: sign-up, purchase, onboarding, account management. Your AI sees the full context, not isolated screens.
  • Structured metadata on every screen — description, page type, UX patterns used, UI elements present, layout breakdown, fonts. Your AI reads the blueprint before it looks at the image.
  • Semantic search — search by page type, UX pattern, industry, style, or plain language. Your product finds references that match what it’s building right now.
  • MCP protocol — integrates via Model Context Protocol, the open standard for connecting AI to external data. Four tools: search screens, search flows, get screen details, get flow details.
  • Volume pricing — limits scaled to your product’s usage. Weekly updates with new screens and flows.

Use cases

AI design tools — Your AI generates interfaces? Give it real products to study first. It sees how top companies solve the same design problem, extracts patterns, and applies them. The output goes from “looks AI-generated” to “looks designed.” Website and app builders — Templates get stale. With Refero, your builder can ground every generated page in current, real-world product patterns — layouts that users already trust and understand. Code generators — Frontend code quality improves when the AI knows what a real dashboard, settings page, or onboarding flow actually looks like. Refero provides that context with structured data, not just screenshots. Design research platforms — Add structured design data to your product: page types, UX patterns, UI elements, typography choices across thousands of real products. Internal tools and design systems — Teams building internal products can reference how top products solve the same problems: data tables, filters, role management, notifications, empty states.
